Even in this tight economy, most of us have too much stuff. We have stuff we don't use, need or want taking up valuable space in our homes and causing us more work, which is the last thing we moms need. Who knows how it happens but it does and it's time to take care of it by "Pitching Ten!"
The concept behind "Pitching Ten" is simple, all you do is get rid of 10 items everyday for one week. These are items you can throw away, such as old magazines, donate or consign. It might be a great time for a garage sale. You can even challenge a friend to do the same thing and y'all can have a garage sale together. (Better yet, you could use the money you make and have a "girls' night out.")
"Pitching Ten" works best if you focus on one room at a time. You have to really analyze each room and decide what you are willing to get rid of. If something doesn't have a special meaning to you, why let it take up space and collect dust? If you haven't used or worn something in two years, why do you have it? Sometimes it's hard for us to part with things, but think about how your excess of "things" is creating more work for you. Even if you don't know it, clutter and mess effect your mood. How frustrating is it to try to work your way through a messy and overstuffed closet? Are your things more important to you than your mental attitude? Of course not!
Take the "Pitch Ten" challenge and start claiming order in your home. In just seven days, you can clear out 70 items from your home and experience how great it can be to live without clutter. Keep in mind that you count each group of items as one. For instance, if you throw out old makeup you don't wear anymore you count ALL of the makeup as one of the ten items.
Once you get started on this, you'll be surprised how freeing it can be to purge from your home the old and unwanted and you'll love how it makes your home look AND you feel!
